インド映画にしては珍しく、踊りも歌もまったくなしに淡々と叙情的な内容になっています。
その名のとおり日本人を妻にしたベンガル地方の青年の話。文通で知り合った二人は恋に落ち、会ったこともないまま結婚することを決めます。今のようにインターネットもない時代、手紙と、彼が町に出たときにだけできる国際電話、そして彼女から時々送られてくる小包だけが二人の愛を確かめる手段。　まるで詩を読んでいるかのように静かに紡がれる二人の愛はどんな結末を迎えるのでしょうか・・・切なくてちょっと涙がでちゃうかも。
同じくベンガル地方出身の店長もかなりハマって鑑賞しておりました。
